Gods Of Our MindsA Poem by H.L. CerveiseGods Of Our Minds We gaze through the window of the eternal void of the cosmos. A thick fog like a shroud flows between us and that window. The glazing is smoky and sticky and distorts our sight of what is. We surmise and imagine what is beyond that glass. Deities abound in the minds of all, both wise and fools. Some say their view is the only true one, and we should bend. Others say that there is no greater power. So they bow to possessions that fade and disappear. Praise silver and gold and all that it can gain. Some are tortured in soul and or body by others structured beliefs. Cogs and spiky spindles of society try to grind into pulp the minds of all. Steam rollers of faith, dogma and atheism crush restless souls. Judgment from the pious and the atheistic discount spirits that do not fit. I wonder, will we ever blow away the fog that clouds our sight? Will we wipe away the smoky clingy film that warps our vision? Then all the conjectures, faiths and theisms will dissolve. They will melt like ice in the bright burning sunshine of self. Only then will we see the window is not a window but a mirror.
