Now that's what I like to see; a poem that conveys a good message while still maintaining the imagery and emotional impact to be considered great. Often, I see poems with good messages, however, the didactic tone, as opposed to a more rhetorical one, ruins the entire poem. A poem can convey a good theme, but at the end of the day, it must still be poetic. This poem did not have the aforementioned problem. It had a great theme and was very well written. Great job.
(Just curious, did Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken" influence this poem any?)

Yes, this poem came from "The Road Not Taken" but not directly for it was a dear friend in a virtual world who reminded me of that poem. We were discussing a song by a singer, we both admired. So many things in life and this universe are nothing but a vast entangling web, past, present and future coming at me all at once. When this happens, it causes my soul to vibrate and moves my fingers upon the keyboard almost as if it is not me. I am just the conduit through which it flows.
I believe we decide our own path. Our decisions lead us to where we support to be.
"I do know it is all this that has made us what we are today,
And we would not be the same person if we had taken a different path."
Above question is a useless one. After life had been lived. We must accept our ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

They are a statement that the path we picked and all the things that have happened to us while on our journey has made us what we are, and even if we could change anything, we would not be us if we did.
Your poem reminds me of "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost (if I am not wrong about the poet's name). Life offers you various paths at every step and it is up to you to decide which path you would tread on. These choices are life-changing. We can always look back and say that had we done so and so, this wouldn't have happened- I hope I am able to make the point clear. This has been expressed in a good manner. Keep writing.

Me too! Sometimes you just hear those songs that just touches your soul!
