The Rose

The Rose

A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

The Rose

The first rose in all its fragrance laughs
Like the first bird to fly in the sky
Beauty engulfs and enlightens all
Adam surveys the virgin realm
His feet trod unbroken fertile sod
The sun sets for the first time on the radiant earth
Stars that never were now blaze in the velvet night

Now many years later the rose has not lost its beauty
The evils of this universe may scar but cannot kill
Beauty still enlightens all
Stars that have seen all still glow in the that lovely dark void
