Bane of Mind and Body

A darkness grows in the deep recesses of the primal mind.
        The black affliction consumes the firing and once energetic neurons.
A pestilence expands within a hidden part of the primordial body.
        The defect mutates and morphs the healthy cells.

The disease of the mind feeds and devours what is good.
        It is a blight that hides from the bright light.
The contamination of the body engulfs what is unblemished.
        It is a malignant abnormal growth that ingests the normal.

The mind feels a coal colored canker that consumes all.
        However, alone it cannot stop the ocean of noise.
The body feels the festering malady and dark rot.
        However, alone it is powerless to stop the corrosion.

Aha the limited knowledge of man can enlighten the brain.
        With the correct mix, the levels can be balanced.
Aha the limited experience of man can enlighten the body.
        With the correct manipulation, the mutation can be destroyed.

Soul sees all and sinks in exhausted terror into the pit.
        Furthermore, the pounding heart sees the conflict and is torn asunder.
Spirit rallies and rails for a solution that will prevail.
        Furthermore, the conscious mind searches for the answers.

In the end, time will see the outcome of this pitch-dark and bloody conflict.
        It may, however, have begun unnoticed in the quiet and still dark.
In the end, time will see the outcome of this pitch-black and physical conflict.
        It may, however, end in the shadowy light on the distant horizon.
