A Winter's Night Sky

A Winter's Night Sky

A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

A Winter's Night Sky

Orion aims his arrow at the crescent moon.

It's beauty haunts me; however, the distance and cold disturb.

Ah, but I know the stars burn with unquenchable heat.

That while the building blocks of the universe collide.

Each collision is more complex and became the building blocks of us.

Of you and of me, we are made of ancient star dust.

Millions of eons ago we also burned bright in the heavens.

Amazing use of words.
"Each collision is more complex and became the building blocks of us.

I liked the above lines a lot. Some collisions are necessary for us to know joy and happiness. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I did enjoy and you are welcome.
This is a pretty good poem. I liked the irony- the cold you feel and the "unquenchable heat" of the stars. Loved the Orion-part. I love watching the night sky and I can see the clear picture in my mind once more. Lovely piece. Keep writing.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem. I am glad you like the wording of this writing.
There must be a million poems about watching the night skies, but yours is fresh & original & surprising in the way this scenario is described & interpreted. I love the first line, which is brilliant. I also love the way this nighttime scene drifts off into a "creation story" possibly suggesting that we are all part of this graceful night sky and/or we are all connected.
