Chapter 3

The Russian ambassador was sitting in his office over several docomunts, which with the diplomatic bag straight from Moscow; when his secretary turned to him through the intercom. ‘The first secretary wishes to see you sir.’

Alright let him in,’ the ambassador answered him, while he collected the documents and stashed them in his desk drawer.

Well Igor what brought you here, at this late hour?’ The ambassador asked his loyal first secretary.’

Well sir our press attache as you’ve surely realized, is a very concieted person, he doesn’t report anything to you sir or to any of us...’

Why should he, after all he’s supposed to deal with clandestine matters.’ The ambassador cut short his first secratry in mid sentence.

You’re very right sir, and I do agree with every word, which you’ve just said; but he conducted a briefing in his office with the one who was sent by center... He should have met him elsewhere, and not here sir, not in the embassy soroundings.’

I’m not fond of him too Igor, but have you checked his whereabouts?’

He gave his chauffeur a day off, and left driving his car to some unknown destination; to a clandestine meeting no doubt, with that SVR agent that arrived two day ago sir.’

We won’t see that certain agent, which our dear press attache’ has already sent to accomplish his mission, or has setteled him somewhere I persume… Do we’ve any means of communication with our press attache’ Igor?’

No sir, whatever he did in that short time that he’s with us he keeps to himself, the same goes of course for the two last days sir.’

What about his female secretary Igor, you did have a few words with her from time to time, didn’t you?’

But she’s a SVR member herself sir, she won’t tell us a thing even under torture sir...’

I see, alright Igor when comes tomorrow morning send straight to my office. That’s all Igor you may go now.’

Center can’t leave us in the dark, if this conceited type won’t report to me what he’s brewing, I’ll turn to center to find out what it’s all about. The ambassador thought worried, while he watched his first secretary as the latter was leaving his office.
