Unexpected newsA Story by Haim KadmanOne more excerpt of my 22nd book and thriller.Sic Transit Gloria Mundi An except Thus the week passed quite fast, and on Friday he was on the next
weekend's threshold impatient awaiting to Irene's reappearnac. At lunch time his two instructors were a bit uneasy, and the way
they exchanged looks between themselves has given up very clearly their
uneasiness. At the end of the meal, as they stood up to take their leave, Al
turned to him with an embarrassed smile. 'It's been a real pleasure to spend the last couple of weeks with
you Scot.' 'Is that so, I won't see again then?' 'Yes to our regret we enjoyed very much your company we were hired
for instructing you but that's it, for we were this morning by your operator
that we aren't needed anymore.' 'I see, well I've enjoyed very much your studies and your company
too.' Scot thanked them effusively but surprised, but he did regret the unexpected
end of his media studies it started to bore him. He accompanied them to their car, shook their hands, and saw them
off. What the hell does it mean, he ponedered as he retuned to his
cabin. I was supposed to pass a period of three months in this cabin with these
two instructors, and when am I going to be trained as a qualified operator I
wonder? He went over to the fridge in the kitchen and took out a can of
beer, and returned to the living room. He sat drinking on one the chairs, and kept wondering what this
sudden change could mean to him. Are they going to send me to one of our embassies abrod already?
Yes that's what it looks like, but why, am I some kind of a risk…? Or has an
unexpected development occurred in some country in South America or the Middle
East? He kept wondering and went over to the computer corner to check the net. At about ten minutes to five p.m. when he left his cabin and was on
his way to have supper at the mess hall, Friday's last meal at The Farm;
Irene's car was driving towards him. She stopped the car beside him, and as he
bent towards her through the car's open window and saw her lovely smiling face
he heard her telling him: 'Hop in and I'll give you a lift to your cabin.' She made him laugh
of happiness on top of her witty remark. 'Let's go to our place under that tree.' She said as they got off
and he took the basket out of the open boot. She spread the cot on the lawn,
and they sat down watching each other with stern faces. 'I've decided to come today against my instructions, because it's
our last weekend together Scot. You're supposed to fly abroad on Monday
morning, your destination was kept away from me.' 'I don't know what to say, we hardly know each other but I feel as
if I've known you all my life… I'll miss you terribley Irene.' 'There're several things that I must tell you Scot. I'm Morgan's
secretary and I was scolded by him last Monday beause I didn't pass the time
with you in the cabin, which is bugged and maybe even hidden cameras are
installed in it.' She stopped and watched him worried afraid her confession has
shocked him. 'And how did you solve that problem?' Scot asked her letting her
understand that he trusts her. 'I've told him that I've aroused you sexually in our first meeting
in New York already, and I was afraid that you'll jump all over me in the
cabin… But that's not my main concern I've decided to resign, and thus I'll be
able to keep seeing you.' She made a second pause out of deep excitement, and
then she inhaled slowly a breath of air and went on. 'I've written down my email address, my Smartphone number and my
parents' address where I live.' 'I'll marry you Irene if you'll accept me as your husband, and as a
press attaché I'll be able to take you with me…' 'Yes that's what I wished to hear my love, but we mustn't touch
each other yet; and I'll leave you right after we'll eat together, and I'll
come to have lunch with you tomorrow and on Sunday, as if I'm carrying on my
tasks.' She released the air caught in her lungs with relief and blinked at him
a fricition of a second through the tears in her green eyes. 'You'll ask to delay your flight because you wish to get married to
your girl friend, you're sure that she'll agree; they mustn't know of course
that it's me at this stage, because I'm part of their scheme.' © Haim Kadman 2016 " all rights reserved. © 2016 Haim Kadman |
