The convoy

A two edged sword

An excerpt

At four pm the Chechen and al-Rimali and their entourages left the headquarters bunker, to check the Fallujah convoy's readiness.

To his utter surprise the Chechen realized that the armament truck was in fact a Red Crescent ambulance, and both bomb cars were adorned with red crescents.

'What a great idea,' the Chechen exclaimed excited, and tapped al-Rimali's shoulder.

'We've briefed your brave men how and in what way to drive, without attracting the coalition air planes attention.'

'I see and how were they briefed,' the Chechen wished to know, for he intended to brief his men or rather encourage them; and he had to what were the Mosul's ex chief and his temporary deputy instruction to his men.

'I've advised them to keep a distance of fifty meters between each vehicle in the convoy, and up to one hundred meters on the plain while there're good vision conditions.'

'Well done al-Rimali,' the Chechen declared with a clear note of enthusiasem.

'I'll tell my men in our language and Abu Dikalu my deputy will translate my words into Arabic.' The Chechen told al-Rimali and turned to his men, which bound to man the convoy.

'I'm very impressed by the preparations that my comrade al-Rimali is responsible for, and he merits praise and his ideas and advice would help you to accomplish your goal successfully.'

At the end of this short monologue, he suggested to al-Rimali to stay in his company with the convoy teams up to eleven pm, when they will part to Fallujah; al-Rimali could not refuse of course, and expressed his consent. As for running their headquarters control room, al-Rimali sent his deputy to replace him and the Chechen up to eleven pm, when the convoy will set off on its hazardous trip.

'We'll have supper with our brave men, and a late dinner at ten thirty; but see that we'll be updated on any change in the northern front.' The Chechen warned Mosul's chief who was under his direct command, since the Chechen's arrival.
