Future aspirationsA Story by Haim KadmanAn imginative plot that tries to assume the P.L.O leadership next move.About an hour before noon, the government
members plus the party's leadership convened in the Moukta'a's (the government
building) auditorium in the city of Ramallah, to discuss future ways of action,
following the president's last appearance in the U.N. and its fruitful
achievement. The first short wave of euphoria passed
away, after the crowds' welcome party in honor of the successful president; that
has endowed them with so much honor and so many hopes; which regretfully evaporated
in twenty four hours. On the next morning everyone realized what their leadership
knew very well beforehand that nothing has changed, and nothing would change in
the near future, unless some drastic moves would take place. The president had no intentions to resume
negotiations with the hated party, that's why he turned a second time to the United
Nations. If my first and second appearances
before the U.N. members were a breach of the 1993 agreement who cares, most of
the U.N. members are on our side, he
thought encouraging himself; as he stood up at the head of the long desk,
facing his associates in the government and the party's leadership. He coughed several times to draw his associates'
attention, to remind them who is in charge, and whom they have to obey. In a
two hours speech he told his associates about his sacred mission, how
encouraged he is thanks to the support of most of the U.N. members. In another
quarter of an hour he told his audience that this first successful step would
lead nowhere, unless further drastic steps would be taken; and that's why he
asked them to convene and express their thoughts and beliefs on that perplexing
issue. The first personality to answer the
president's challenge was the moderate PM. He reminded everyone present in the
auditorium the economic difficulties, with which their independent state that
was not established yet is facing. We must resume the negotiations with the
hated party… The mention of negotiations brought up an
uproar, some members stood up and with angry shouts cut off the PM speech. An uncontrollable
tumult ensued and fragments of sentences like "no negotiations",
"Intifada (uprising)", "death to the Zionists" echoed in
the auditorium. The president hastened to rise from his
comfortable seat and raised both his hands and waving them frantically ordered everyone
to sit down and keep quiet. 'We won't resume the negotiations and
there won't be any future negotiations with whatever government of the Zionists.'
He declared loud and clear vehemently. 'As for the economic difficulties the
Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani visit in Ramallah,
will solve our economic problems inshallah' (with God's will). He made a short
pause, raised a glass of mineral water to his lips for a quick gulp, put the
empty glass back on the desk and went straight on with his speech. 'We promised at the U.N. no violence, no
third Intifada (uprising), but we shall defeat them! How, I'll tell you how. We
are in contact with the Syrian rebels' leadership committee. As soon as they'll
oust Bashar Al Asad and his Alawi followers, they'll topple the king of Jordan
and send his Bedouins back to Saudi Aarabia….' Clapping and merry applause stopped the
president's speech. 'Yes there in the ex kingdom of Jordan we shall establish
our independent state on both banks of the Jordan River, up to to the sea. It
will take time of course, but there after getting rid of the Bedouins we shall
arm ourselves as much as we need, and no one would be able to stop us.' © Haim Kadman December the 23rd 2012 " all rights
