I hoped

I hoped

A Poem by hjcm

Batteries all run

out, conditioner and

an empty takeout box used

for keeping food fresh. I wish that

for once

I would become the small thing you hold

softly

but I’m beginning to stop thinking of you

like that.

You don’t trust me (and well, I suppose I didn’t

trust you

when I was hurting) and you won’t let me think of you

with this

unbearable silence.

shower poetry: poetry that comes to you in the shower, or whilst doing something similarly mundane. It is short, mostly unedited, and a little bit shoddy. more..
