One of those (part 4)

One of those (part 4)

A Story by hjcm

Illness departs.

Lights draped about a tree,

colours pretty as day mingle

with snow trudged indoors

accidentally, a smile shared with

a fellow shopper.

Christmas: mulling over past times

and memories between windows of work.

The warmth of family

as I hold my mother’s waist at the checkout,

but only after I’ve chased her

though trolley

blockades as she wanders off.

Good lip balm and calls that last for hours:

a voice that always makes me smile.

I have my thoughts that have grown rich with time

and I think they will make their home in me like

this beautiful Winter holiday.
