Your pearlA Poem by hjcmI’m diving deep and braving icy waters to find your oyster. Amidst
tumultuous waves I’m stung
by briny attackers; I accept those scars as
tokens - And listen now to the
sea-swell on the sandy beach, Feeling thousands of parched
granules cutting your feet. My form fathoms below in search of your pearl and I am buffeted and torn and each plume of
blood is like the prayer of your
name from my lips, and I remember I can’t
swim. I’ve shed my breathing
apparatus and am dreaming dreams of
you; in the dark of the
underworld you are my colour and you turn
me. Washed up, cheek in sand, breakers caressing lips and hair about me drenched like seaweed. I stand and stagger over
to you and this is what I see: The shell is around your
neck And it will only open for
you. © 2010 hjcmReviews
