Shadows retreating, uncovering housesA Poem by hjcmWanderings always lead me
back to something: the big river with the
clock on the other side, a lonely bridge where I
want to meet my lady and kiss her until we both
can’t stand, the sweet café where we had lunch with
your friends. See, I’m already lost in
your city but it feels like home to my cold body and I wanted your hands
upon me to undo my armour and
release the lonesome creature in me, whose
wings are so weak she can’t yet fly. But I’m a little
bit scared and not ready to again utter the secret language of lovers,
no matter how much Ovid I’ve read. Latin is an art
I’m losing; it’s fading like the memory of her eyes and the
days I don’t regret. But I like
to sing other songs now, lose
myself in rhythms she never introduced me to,
because I have a new sunshine to face; I blush
in the warmth of your smile and breathe each day
with new lungs. © 2010 hjcmReviews
