Iron

Iron

A Poem by hjcm

Floor-bound, staring up into white;

eyes trail on the blurred edge of roof

through the window.

Neighbourhood is muffled under

glass. Eggs knock in the pan

in a violent bubbling pot.

There is a disembodied whine.

Head rests against kitchen drawer.

Lips thirsts for yours

or maybe a cup of cool water

that will thunder out from the tap.

Knees slump to one side;

now and before between two pairs of socks.
