Peace At Last

Peace At Last

A Poem by Alex Yancy

Run away, go somewhere else, you aren't wanted here,
Her thoughts screamed as the blade breaches her wall of skin,
going in deeply causing blood to gush over her fingers.
The tears came faster as the words swirled through her head,
The blade dripping blood.
She did not feel it go in,
She did not realize how deep in went in.
She felt nothing,
Even when it scraped her bone,
All it caused was the tears to come even faster.
She isn't wanted at home, at school, by her boyfriend, by anyone.
She could go somewhere else,
But where?
She looks in the mirror at her mascara streaked face from all the tears,
Then it hit her; she can go to Colorado.
Live with her brother and his family,
He won't turn her away.
He cant. He wouldn't.
She falls to the bathroom floor,
Her eyes fluttering closed.
Finally peace, finally rest.
She sighs and smiles as she falls unconscious in a pool of blood.
