The WindA Poem by Alex YancyThe wind whispered secrets to her no one else would understand, What was wrong?, Why won't you let me help you? You say you love her, You say you'll do anything to keep her happy. Why won't you let her help you, Together forever means you share the burden. The wind starts to pick up as her anger, hurt, confusion, and worry stir up, Don't worry about it, just be happy okay be happy How do you expect her to be happy if you constantly worry her without explanation. How can you force her to tell you everything, Then tell her nothing in return? How can you ask her to open up to you, Then not return the favor? The wind, howling and whipping her hair in all directions at this point dies down. I need to fix myself up. She looks at her phone, Remembering all the issues you had before, Almost all of them gone. All for her, So you can keep her. A different sound now, A phone ringing. I love you. I just need to go to sleep and forget this, I'm sorry. This in no way is your fault A smile, Small at first, grows larger. I love you. Not your fault. The wind stops whispering to her, Going to find someone else. She whispers quietly, smiling, He'll be okay. She curls up in bed, And drifts off into a peaceful dreamless sleep.
