I was Stone

I was Stone

A Poem by Thomas Hews
"

a lovely little couplet poem i jotted down

"

I was stone

Tumbling along banks of overhewn moss

Sailing on currents of blue and grey

And cutting my path through things unknown

I was stone

And I was harder than rocks

Fighting through tangles

As I kept rolling on

I was stone

But I’ve aged in reverse

Now much younger than ever

And smaller now, too

I was stone

I was but now no more

I’ve ran my short course

Now nothing but scree

Wow, this is a cool poem. I love the first stanza, makes me think of a Scottish moor thick with ancient story. I love the little couplets, they're so easy to read and you're so wonderful at them! I should try writing some more. Thank you so much for sharing. Flora.
