Heroine

Heroine

A Poem by Thomas Hews

As I walked, through this make believe maze
I stopped and looked, my eyes did gaze
For what I saw, so bright and clear
I could not tell, if 't was far or near
Until it touched, me on the brow
Such beauty, never seen till now

It's skin was pale, and soft to touch
And of this thing, I've desired much
For when it is near, I feel great joy
Is it real, or just some evil ploy?

Night and Day, I search my mind
To see such beauty, so soft and kind
But yet as I look, all things go dark
I feel her touch, has left its mark

I never saw her face that day
Or the next, or the next, to my dismay
Such radiance, lost in pools of thought
And by my mind, she'll not be caught
For once you've seen her, you'll be hooked
There's no returning, once you've looked
