Of Course

 

"Do you love me?"

You asked as you held me gently

"Of course, I would die for you, can't you see?"

I answered in a kind voice.

 

He didn't pause or stutter

He held me close and 

His voice was smooth as butter

"I can see perfectly.

 

"I see your smiles

I see your grins

I could hear your laugh for miles

I would die for you in the end."

 

"I, too, notice things about you

From your light laugh

All the way down to how you tie you shoes!

You are my second half.

I will die without you."

 

We sat there,

Gazing into each other's eyes

Soon it became too much to bear

And I buried my face in his hair.

 

"You love me right?"

He asked.

And I took a good look at his face in the light.

My feelings were unmasked

And my heart took flight.

 

"Of course."

Was all I answered.
