How Do I Love Thee (my version)A Poem by hiltheanthe famous sonnets, like Elizabeth Berett Browning's, are always so convicted about their love... i don't think i can ever be so certain
How do I love thee? I know no answer.
I know not how I love thee, I know not if I love thee How do I love thee? I'm afraid to answer. I cannot compare my love to sweet shimmering candlelight for candles are ever extinguished by endless nights and shimmer no more I cannot compare my need to air and breath for lungs rot and drown in needless death and need no more I've seen no winding rivers to romanticize The one I know stinks of tour and commerce I've lived no fiery summers to metaphorize Where I live is cursed of perpetual humidity Let me explain how I love thee in the only way that you can understand I love thee just as much as you will not love me.
