SwallowedA Poem by A.A.RomanczukTorch-bright, blazing star-tears trickled down
The wan, pallid face of the starving moon
The Sun had abandoned her to shed
Warmth upon brighter gems in the heavens
O how the Gods were bathed in pity
To see her cleaved almost in two
Permanently they smothered the amethyst
Heavens in stars - commemorating her eternal sorrow
She lies in the arms of the mango tree
Plucking blossoms - one, two, three...
Mother comes and chides the girl
For robbing the tree of its fruit
"Mother, Mother, Mother dear-
I only do what was done to me here"
Down plink her tears- one, two, three...
The depressed moon wraps her frame in feverish light
In heart's blood, understanding well her plight
Real slow, she clambered off of the tree
Slowly, she wandered into the Sea
The Sea anesthetized, She tranquilized
With her welcoming, passionate caresses
It was Not enough
His last letter rang in her head
Oh, he would never understand
Ripe mango tears
Stained her "kiss me" mouth orange
Which she parted for the Sea
Letting Her in
The moon she gnashed her teeth
Against the ravenous Sea
Who purposefully, seductively kissed the girl
And with a final lick- swallowed.
