Even The Caged Bird Sings

Even The Caged Bird Sings

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

You may extinguish

The starlight in my eyes

Today

But the light in my

Soul

Burns stoically on

And it you cannot

Murder thus

Not with word or deed or weapon

You may cause a trembling tear

To roll across a feverish cheek

But I am not yours

I never was

And my transparent thoughts

You cannot imprison

Nor with a net capture

To crush and pound

Though like insects

My thoughts sometimes fly

You may cause me to sit

In silence depressed

But this pen shall never learn silence

Even the caged bird sings

oh how beautiful - how inspiring - how strong - and how very liberating - there is nothing that compares - with the power of the written word - and with that strength - comes the resilience to rise!
ms angelou was so right - "the caged bird sings of freedom"!!!!

this poem screams, one's body may be imprisoned, yet the mind forever remains free

it also reminds me of lyrics from this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0zNBLdFbso

yes more songs. good job.

how loud !! cannot be muted !! rebellious !! that I really like !!
Soren Kierkegaard once said "People hardly ever make use of the freedom they have, for example, freedom of thought; instead they demand freedom of speech as a compensation." but this poem says even if not free one can stand up and shout !!
well done dear

This is great ,how it tells much
You could kill me ,burn me,extinguish all light in my eye
but the soul is still there,no one could touch her
not words or weapon..always thought me so strong
for i believed in ,and my thoughts, those no one could kill
or smother..they fly whereever and all time
i had a pen so strong,it starts to sing when i close my eyes
lovely write..

Hello A.A.

Incredible write. You are so very right, even when we self cage the bird will not stop singing. You can try, and try. But the bird just gets louder and louder.
Well written, and I like the style.

Regards,

Matthew
