First Dance

First Dance

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

One, two

One, two

The room blurs

As he whirls me around

In dizzy circles

I quake in his arms

A misplaced blossom

I step the wrong way

Because of...a quick glance at …

His eyes…

His eyes…his earthen eyes…

He seems not to notice

His gaze tries to find mine

I stiffen

I do not know why

I look forwards and sideways

I try not to look at him

I feel his gaze

I wonder that my heart

Does not simply stop

Slowly skirts swing to rest

Heels cease to clack

This number is over

He comments on the

Grace with which I danced

It is untrue…untrue

But his sweetness tempers

My qualms

Loved this..
he took me in his arms and turned me round and round
never used to this..never used to dance
i looked in his eyes and i tripped once or twice
lost balance everytime i looked to those deep wells
they welcomed me all the time
beacons so lovely when the flashed their lights
i was blind, blind to everything but the joy the brought me
and i felt safe like a child in strong hands
i was touched ,skirts fly..and i forgot myself
till music stopped and was back to real life
once he made me forget..i dreamed of another life
lovely write..
