I Feel My Energy Ebb Away

I Feel My Energy Ebb Away

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

I feel my energy ebb away
My concentration a sorry mess
Numbly I stare at these four white walls
As if there were something to see
I am lost in thought
Or in the lack of it
I do not know if it is
Happiness or Pain
That fills me
I feel a tinge of emptiness
As I prepare myself for
"Resignation with a smile"
Cruel paradox
But I will not allow myself
To once again
Be broken
Because of elevated Hope
Preparation for a let-down
And it's all just in case
Though I will conceal
Any pain related to this
For Peace's sake
I feel my energy ebb away
I am the image of listlessness and dismay
Tiredness overwhelms my body
What am I to say?
I feel my energy ebb away
