The Pain of PartingA Poem by A.A.RomanczukOne by one, they fall glistening Like starlight on the pale face of the moon A sense of trembling fragility overwhelms me My thoughts are flooded by You A pained sweetness permeates The piercing sorrow I am torn by the distinct emotions Casting shadows across Your features The loveliest I've ever seen The dearest memories of which I'll keep I study You as an artwork, consuming my Soul And loathe to leave Your arms But I am told That we must part What words could I employ to describe The unearthly pain which Rushes with the strength Of a thousand waterfalls And bends the body But let us speak no more of that Resignation ought with a smile Come Wise Words That are but empty echoes Without hope of realization Yet I shall try To kindle one from You with mine As moths drawn to ethereal flame We die burned by its heat Silken wings in shreds Paper hearts In Ashes
