A Discourse With SunA Poem by A.A.RomanczukI grumble at the Sun’s tender kiss upon my forehead Implore Him to bring His lighthearted sonnets To other doors “Awaken, my love” He whispers laying down beside me I open one hazy eye-He is fair but Slumber appears fairer! He smiles a smile that might have brought Another woman to her knees I value my sleep! He steals kisses, imposes His presence Upon an eye, a lip, a cheek He honors the hand that is territorially stretched Across the second pillow in a manner that says “I adore you. Adore me back or I shall wither.” Adore me at another time. You have your kiss. Go. “Cruel woman, the world outside is waiting For your honey greeting. Do not you care That my heart is breaking?” Do not you care that I am sleeping? Come bother me another time Eyes that reflect Gehenna he points at me I turn my body with a sigh My mother comes bearing coffee Bidding me to rise Persistent lover, victory is thine. © 2013 A.A.RomanczukReviews
