Monarch Butterflies

Monarch Butterflies

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

It feels as if in the heat of summer

A thousand monarch butterflies flutter

Their stained glass wings inside of me

I have been imprisoned by your peridot gaze

Mesmerized, you have taken my breathe

Hidden it away from me effortlessly

With kisses reckless as the ocean etude

I am waves crashing upon your shore

You are the wind piercing my skin

I am trembling like a porcelain leaf

Shattering, it is not the winter cold

It was your quiet touch that

Shook my soul out of its sleep

We stack smiles upon smiles

Exchanging words only to resort to

Speaking without words

I dissolve in your silence

Gathered by your arms

You take me apart

To piece me together

A thousand monarch butterflies flutter

Their stained glass wings inside of me

Fireworks gently exploding

Oh the magic of you

Turning winter into spring
