Thistles and Weeds

Thistles and Weeds

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk
"

I saw some thistles by the river

"

I was in tangles, thistles and weeds

Thorns in my heart, thorns in my needs

Your wide dark eyes were overgrown with weeds

As I woke to a fading sun, I thought to myself

Thistles and weeds, its all thistles and weeds

You said I was your bonny rose, I thought to myself

Thistles and weeds and prose

I laughed as gaily as the Spring, I stuck you

Full of thorns, it was all thistles and weeds

Thistles and weeds, you should have known

I would leave you to bleed, life you see

Life is thistles and weeds

I think many will relate to this. The whole relationship thing is often a briar patch--that's for sure. Mr. Askew says it better than me, but I also found the repeated words enjoyable. It reminds me a bit of an Art Garfunkel song that goes, "I bruise you, you bruise me. We both bruise too easily..."

I love repeating words, it gives the whole thing a certain rhythm :) Thank you :)

Life can be a little thorny at times. This has a good rhythm to it.

Yes, it is a very thistly time right now. I like the repetition of the title thought throughout. Thorns, thistles, love, disappintment, blood .. all the stuff of life as we know it! There is the odd orchid kicking around, too, though.

Agreed, though thistles love to pretend to be roses :D
You shine so trough thistles and weeds, as a fresh wind....
