I Saw. I Heard. I Noticed.A Story by highwallsWhy now?Today in school I walked through the halls. Through lost souls of countless children. Seeing. Today in school I saw a girl. She got called fat. I asked myself why they said school was a safe place. Why they make us believe we are accepted. Today in school I heard a girl. She was on her knees in front of the toilet of an empty stall. I heard as she made herself gag. I wondered if anyone knew. If anyone heard. Today in school I saw a boy. He sat there under the tree. Far away from everyone. But I saw a small tear falling down his cheek. I asked myself if he would tell anyone about his small meltdown. Or if he was strong enough to keep it to himself. Everyone seemed oblivious. To the countless situations. But there are some of us. Who notice the unseen. Today in school I realized that the hurting starts way sooner. Way sooner than we would like.
