Lessons to be learned

Lessons to be learned

A Poem by Vertigoingnowhere
"

something i wrote in history class

"

In my short time ive been living, ive come to learn a lot

so listen very closly to the lessons ive been taught

Ive learned that growing up is over rated and sad to go through

when we're little we want to grow then when we do we wish we could renew

ive learned its hard to be alone when we're alive

When i get by myself i feel scared and lost inside

but the hope that theres someone out there makes the dark seem bright.

Ive learned that life is the hardest thing we'll ever go through

the pain we feel, but the picture we paint, comes with a reward like getting a tattoo

Ive learned i have to fight for what i belive in to stay alive

and all this ive realized

is just a few things ive found out about life

but i feel i will never understand the reason why

We want to know what happens after we eventually die

I guess we'll just have to find out when the time is right

My learning is certainly not done

My lessons have only just begun

Your last two lines say it all: ' My learning is certainly not done ~ My lessons have only just begun '. And believe me, it's not just learning that matters but what to do with that learning, for using it wisely, carefully, kindly. Looking back I realise that the worse thing about living life is wasting seconds crying over spilled milk and being afraid to move on, everything is an education. Seems you already know that, your words are pretty well on the ball but don't be afraid, fear's a killer!

Fine writing, fine thinking.

wow. there are a lot of lessons in life that we must learn. i certainly agree in everything you said. we have to be strong to face all the obstacles in life that we're going through. the flow is great, and the thought is very wise. i loved the last two stanzas:

"My learning is certainly not done
My lessons have only just begun"
so true. :) every day is another challenge and those lessons just keep on coming.. crafted nicely. a very inspirational write! ^_^

I tried to post a review, and to my frustration it just sat there and I waited and waited until I became frustrated and refreshed the page, which seemed to erase my post. However, it could turn up from the ethers anyway, so if it does and there are two reviews from me pretty much identical, I apologize. That's the main thing about this site that frustrates me, is how long it takes to load things up, turn a page or post something. This whole sight needs to be reworked by a computer genius and great website builder. I know a couple of those. But anyway... on to my review of your great write.

I love how you make the point that no matter where we are in life we want to be somewhere else... older if we're young, young again if we're old, wondering what the afterlife is like while we should be enjoying each now moment of the life we have here and now. As to the mechanics of the poem, it would be nice if you had used stanzas. Your poem rhymes and has a loose meter, so it should be written in a format that makes it easier to find these elements. Other than that the poem is wonderful and enjoyable to read.

Bravo! Bravo! I love this poem... especially the last two lines.
"My learning is certainly not done
My lessons have only just begun"
To me those lines are absolutely brilliant.
While I read this piece I fell in love with it. Mainly because you were talking about the truth of reality... anyway great write!

Wow very insightful. Definitely reminds all of us of all the lessons learned throughout our lifetime. I as well have learned a lot of things and have grown and matured because of them. You are very right about growing up being hard to do! Well written!

I agree with the last two lines. Life is a learning process and we never stop learning. A poem of the things you have learnt so far in life, and eventually in your quest, you may find answers to your questions like 'what happens after we eventually die'.. Nice thoughts.
