I am from...

I am from...

A Poem by Vertigoingnowhere
"

first perfessional poem i wrot in 9th grade in english. its about me being adopted. also i wrote this in school thats why i finally was able to format some of my writing.

"

I am from people who are strangers to me

From people who's faces i don't recongnize

From people who only knew me for a short while.

I am from a unfamiler place. A plce with a large glass window through which adults look at me

I live with people who are not related to me.

I do not look like them they do not look like me.

I am from a family who did not have me, but gave me a chance to be a part of THEIR family.

I love to see whan adopted children can be so positive, I think if children are adopted into good families then they are truly blessed.
You do not need to be from them or look like them to be a part of THEM!
Wonderful piece of writing.

Being given the opportunity grow in a safe and loving environment, even it it wasn't a blood family is something that is a blessing. I felt that your ink spoke of mind's rationalization that occurs when looking back on a situation like the one you've grown through. It's good to see that a positive outcome came of it.

Thanks for sharing!

I don't know why but I don't think this poem's sad. All the lines before the last were like adding to the crescendo of the poem so that the last will give as much impact as possible. It's like saying that you were a stranger but still someone accepted you as a part of their family, and that's a flattering thing, a happy thing. I really don't know what you felt that time, but this is just what I think. This was really beautiful though. Great poem ;)

This is so heartfelt...I am saddened and yet, hopeful, that your new family gives you the love that you deserve.

Yes this is sad, and to me it was your cry for validation. Your identity seems to have been ignored in order to fit you into their mold. Life is cruel sometimes, it leaves some in a separate line then everyone else, cast aside, and left to fend for themselves. But there's always hope. I hope your feeling better about things now. Good poem.
