I am from...

I am from...

A Poem by Vertigoingnowhere
"

first perfessional poem i wrot in 9th grade in english. its about me being adopted. also i wrote this in school thats why i finally was able to format some of my writing.

"

I am from people who are strangers to me

From people who's faces i don't recongnize

From people who only knew me for a short while.

I am from a unfamiler place. A plce with a large glass window through which adults look at me

I live with people who are not related to me.

I do not look like them they do not look like me.

I am from a family who did not have me, but gave me a chance to be a part of THEIR family.

Wonderful! You have captured the questions very well, of one who is adopted... and yes the positive point at the end, that although you came from people you don't know... you were chosen by another family, to be precious to them... to hold and raise as an amazing gift!

Aww, great poem! Really emotional, you conveyed many emotions through only 7 lines. Leaves many things for the reader to imagine, which is good. :) Made me think, well done. :)

I really liked it and the last line was my favorite. Being born in one place and being raised in another doesn't. What matters is that you are with people who love you. Even if you guys share the same blood you still are family.

A person I know has one biological sister, and 7 adopted siblings. Four were just recently and he is 33yrs old. The other came along when he was 12. His parents just fostered the children and they just felt they couldn't seperate the siblings, each 3 set of girls, so they adopted each 3. The little boy, they have been fostering since he was 2 weeks old and they are the only mom and dad he knows and he's only 3. His real dad...not a good picture there. So...being from one place and growing up some other is not so bad. You could be from many places through the system and that would be a harsh one, don't you think? Your poem brings a different perspective on the topic. I think they are justified thoughts and bravo for you in speaking out how you really are taking that position. (Don't take what I said harsh or anything, really good for you in expressing your side :)
