ParalyzedA Poem by VertigoingnowhereI hit the ground harder this time. I could hear the sound of my own bones breaking. The pain felt unreal. The sky grew dark, and roared as lightning struck. Then came the rain. The raindrops mixed with the blood and ran down my back, leaving
goose bumps on my skin. I tried to get up, but I couldn't move. The weight of the world pushed down on my chest. My lungs grew vacant and my pulse began to slow. “This is it,” I thought. As my eyes began to shut and my strength started to diminish, I felt a hand pull me to my feet. The eyes that stared back at me, scolded me for my defeated
demeanor. The arms that wrapped around my nearly lifeless body, carried me
out of the rain. The mouth that called out my name, spoke to me ever so sweetly, “I know you are growing weary of the pain, dear, we all grow
weary of this war. But the time to fade away hasn't arrived yet." "You are of the bravest warriors that roam this earth. Not just because you are fighting, but because you are
surviving.” “Here lies the hospital for lost souls” “You may stay, but only for a little while, soon you must be on your way,” “Darling, you’ll be okay.” “Lay your head down and silence your mind.” “Now is the time to focus on you, to rest your eyes. “ “In the daylight, you will abandon this place, never forget the
battle scars you have made here. Someday they will be stories to tell." “Before you go, make sure you leave some of your demons here.” "Now is the time we part ways." The lips kiss my forehead. “C'ya around, sunshine." And with that, the voice disappeared, and away I drifted, farther and farther from consciousness, into the darkness. © 2013 VertigoingnowhereReviews
