Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls

A Poem by Jenn

The Darkness has forever gone
And nothingness remains.
The vitality that once spilled forth
Hath retreated from the plains.

We ruled supreme on mountain high-
The Darkness at my side.
And things grew green and shadowed-
Vivid life spread far and wide.

One day, the Darkness never came,
The Kingdom fell so soft and humbled.
Again the Darkness never came,
The Kingdom fell to dust and crumbled.

Standing in the ruin,
Midst the tears and screams of pain-
Thunder rumbled through the sky
And it began to rain.

The Darkness was henceforth exiled-
That I did bequeath.
But, O! For one last chance
To writhe the Darkness underneath.

And that is what becomes of the world that darkness no longer seeks. A truly deep and thoughtful write!
