Oh this is perhaps the most painful part of that entire film. And he never even knew she was. Saddest part of all. This speaks to the innocence of so many lost to cruel tormentors. Evil which destroys beauty in the name of... I cannot even fathom the what. Powerful piece. And so harshly yet beautifully described. They all deserve this kind of tender remembrance.

"Schindler's List" was a very inspiring movie, reminding us that no matter how unquenchably evil Humankind (what an inappropriate term!) may become, there shall always be islands of hope and loving-kindness. This is a beautiful verse, Beth, reminding us of the ineffable horror that was 1930's-40's Germany. I wish I could say it taught us a lesson, but, apparently not: we're still doing business with totalitarian states and dictators the world 'round. How long, O Lord, How long?
I'm going to try and get a 9/11 poem up in the next day or two. Meanwhile take a look at Tate's latest offering, on a similar theme.
A brilliant write portraying the terrible world that existed. You have used your way with words to pen this masterful piece, bringing its truths starkly to life.
