Just an aftertaste....................

Just an aftertaste....................

A Poem by Muse

You stopped me at the first hello, an

older and charming handsome fellow

we quickly went from friends to lovers

I began to slaver for something more

I wanted to extinguish you, tasting

your salty skin, igniting a craving within

I need more to satisfy this palate, your

smell of blood sweet like punch, so I

pursue my first innocent lick and bite

only to get you stuck between my teeth

breaking fingers and splintering bones

I try to savor your affection in my mouth, but

what was once a confection has turned bitter

instead I had to swallow you down whole

bloated now from the weight of your soul.

Well slap my a*s call me Charlie and tell me to see Wonka bars. The start gave me the impression the end would not be as harsh. But I loved it, the entire flow could have been someone's thoughts when lying in bed and having the ever important moment of clarity.

Some very strong metaphors... some times the people we have affections for wind up being what was I thinking. But every relationship is a lesson learned and memories created, hopefully some to cherish.

VERY POWERFUL!!! This rocks solid and blew me away. I read and re read, my mind is painting many pictures with this. this is utterly beautiful, sensual and so real. It grabs the eyes, then the soul, and mind, then one is caught up in a whirlwind of wonderment as to what the truth really is or has come to be.

First we sip savouring every drop upon welcoming lips only to find we quickly find a taste for the cured flesh and whilst enjoying the flavour the meat has spoiled leaving a bitterness and unappealing afterbite whether to swollow the bile or spit it out is always the decision best made in hindsight. Love the metaphoric journey through the affair affirming passion and dissalution. Keep em' coming

The intensity of your writing is indescribable, with every word I read of yours I actually feel the sensations and the drive and emotion behind them and then when the poem comes to an end, I have to go back and reread it because I don't want it to end! Another beautiful piece! I know we always seem to come across someone who has this sort of effect upon us and the message conveyed in this poem couldn't be done by anyone as spectacularly vivid and enrapturing but by wonderful you. Bravo my dear.

Such a bittersweet poem that left a nasty aftertaste at the end. Your description almost summoned a sense of nausea and disgust, almost a gag reflex really. And I don't mean that in a bad way either. I mean that this is the impression it has left me with, as beautifully written as was the poem. Vivid imagery well crafted. Thank you for sharing

yikes. this poem drained faster than a keg at a frat party....
the first blush fades fast. From the beginning to the end I'd call this a visceral shred.
