The Poppy and the RoseA Poem by Hickory Dickory
When all is gone,
When all is broken, When all is dead at dawn. When words left unspoken, And bones left unbroken, The poppy will soon be gone. As the rose begins to wilt, As the water all dries up, Your heart is filled with guilt, As you smash another cup. The anger will not leave you, The sadness will not farewell, The loneliness will not surprise you, For now you're just a shell. The broken pieces will never be resolved, For the heart cannot be repaired. Insist that all feelings have fully dissolved, But deep down, nobody really cared.
