Good NightA Poem by hibc152I had the most amazing girlfriend and we were dating for two years. Last night however we split up. I wrote this to get some closure for myself. Love in its grandeur is supposed to be eternal. It is the thing of which all great poets and artists discuss, To write and sing of great times in embrace with one another. As with all things though, time takes its toll and taints, Turning once great feelings into disappointment and longing. Longing for once great, precious past points in life. When two lovers believed the world was theirs for the taking. Thoughts of future only filled with one another, a symbiosis, A bond so sacred that indeed only nature’s everlasting hourglass may count down. When morning embraces become fleeting looks, Afternoon kisses become glancing blows, Late “Good Night” calls diminish to just that. As such with all things night must come, time will continue. Mornings will continue to rise on the night, Removing the sorrow from the dark. Afternoon shall still pass, Time will always be there to glance us by. And as always night will return, To smother the world in darkness, Where no man, no women, in their best silk may sleep like kings. For there is only one true ruler of this world. All things must end, good and bad. With that I too must say “Good Night”. We all must say “Good Night”.
