EnginesA Poem by Hunter Hoburg Here, the engine of
desire: Gears twisting turning Pumping lust through veins Secreting filthy exhaust. Pushing the soul into Desperation. Here, the engine of deprivation: Churning and waiting Wheezing, hiccupping to the Tired rhythm of dreaming. Driving the sorry soul to Slumber, surrender. Here, the engine of destruction: Devouring all who try To qualm the madness The warpath on which it roils. There was a warning; There was a time to run; But the engine cuts down, Swallows up, Ends. Here, the engine of sleep. © 2011 Hunter HoburgReviews
