cartoons and cigarettes

cartoons and cigarettes

A Poem by Heather Hassell

i sat up all night

watching cartoons

and smoking cigarettes

thinking about how much distance

i've put between myself and my childhood

and what a shame

it would be

to ever lose

my youth.

The poem is true. It is sad when we forget the simple gifts of youth. Being fearless and able to laugh at life. If we are lucky. Our kids will keep us young for a while longer. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
