Finished With A Kiss

Finished With A Kiss

A Poem by Abi Heywood

A face with two sides
behind the glass you stay hidden
in the web of numbers and letters
and talk of me and my words
of my life and decisions
but never stop to think how it hurts

With a smile and a laugh you stab
through my back with your wit
your words the knife
which you twist
yet I smile and laugh with you
knowing your game, seeing through

your facade and your front
to which for your entertainment I silently take the grunt. X

A bit of an inconventional sonnet with a varied structure to follow the subject of the piece.
