Black Mangrove Trees

Black Mangrove Trees

A Poem by Tony Hwilka

Growing along the shores of Florida

their seedlings -- bright and green

resembling lima beans

But of course we know they're not

yet the birds and fish

gather among the roots to feast

and man goes for the fish
