Luck of the American Blacks

Luck of the American Blacks

A Poem by Tony Hwilka
"

Just a thought

"

Present day blacks

forgave blacks who

sold their ancestors to slavery.

But are prejudiced against whites even today.

Still complain

how they are treated.

Without celebrating how

lucky they are.

What if the South

had won?

And as all Americans

how lucky we are

to live in the land of freedom

no matter the color of one's skin

no matter where you came from

no matter your regilous beliefs

Our Government treats all men equal.

DO ANY OF US APPRECIATE IT?

ok Tony, here's my humble thoughts.

"And as all Americans
how lucky we are
to live in the land of freedom
no matter the color of one's skin
no matter where you came from
no matter your regilous beliefs
Our Government treats all men equal.
DO ANY OF US APPRECIATE IT?"

I could subsitute "Australians" for Americans" in this write and
it would be the same scenario....

I agree we are lucky to live in Australia or America and I certainly would
not like to live anywhere else but Australia. (But I'm prejudice!)

We have the same state of affairs with our Australian Aboriginals and its
nothing new. There are always going to be disgruntled people despite
their color, creed, ethnic origins etc. that's just the human condition.

We can't change that, we can only have compassion and understanding
and be grateful for the great institution of "democracy", fought and gained
through blood, sweat and tears of our forebears.

I think we do appreciate it Tony, as least I do and I'm sure if most people
were honest, deep down they would too.....its just that we have gotten lost
along the way with the great scourge of society GREED.

Money is the root of all evil, I sincerely believe that. Its the world's
'GOD' and is worshipped by people who think it is the end all of everything.
Well its not! "There are no pockets in shrouds". So until people realise that.
nothing is going to change until we, each and everyone of us start to
look inside our hearts and be grateful for this wonderful beautiful world
that God has given us, there is never going to be peace.

God Bless American and Australia, may we ever be grateful for what we have.
