After Midnight

After Midnight

A Poem by Tony Hwilka

Travelers meet

            spirits charged

                by the other's energy

Walk through the door

            shake hands

                 wave goodbye

Door remains

           partly open

                 releasing the sunsets

Gone are the spirals of hope

          as the night

                 swallows the valley

I like the format of this poem. Its simple and sweet -- well, not sweet, obviously, but you get what I'm trying to say. Thanks for submitting it in the "Halloween Tributes" Contest.
