Woods

Woods

A Poem by Tony Hwilka

I walk towards the woods

          green and deep

once inside

I find it hard to sleep

What an illusion the woods do give

of being green and being neat

Since deep inside animals sleep

waiting 'til night -- thats when they eat

I lie and I watch

          see shadows in the dark

My mind becomes fuzzy

          my body scared

I see a large -- large bear standing in the night

He approaches my tent

          from the right

Grips my shoulder

          rolls me over

my eyes blur with fright -- the bears growls

It's just me son

         it's daddy
