Sprinklers in the RainA Poem by ChelsI wrote this piece forever ago for a best friend who was leaving for college nearly 3000 miles away from home. It was inspired by one of the first, and best memories I had with him. I hope you enjoy. Our youth is the time where we discover who we are It’s the time where we find bliss and happiness in the little things we do with our friends It’s the time when we make mistakes, lots of them, but at the same time learning from them and becoming better people because of them It’s when we discover our identities, and get our first taste of freedom and independence We adventure, we wonder, we have our first kiss, and we have our first heartbreaks We spend our afternoons exploring, and stretch our nights till midnight We long of travel to distant places, places that offer new opportunities and chances We leap off the edge of our seats with excitement when some new door is opened But at the same time, we stay back Fearing the unknown Fearing the trouble we might face for making the wrong decision Fearing the judgement that lies around each corner
So, as we leap off, we leap with hesitation But it is this hesitation that propels us to go further To go farther than we ever thought we could So, I say, dance through your youth and your life like how we dance through sprinklers in the rain Full of life and excitement Hesitating at the start, but going for it anyway Because as the young say, you only live once. © 2018 ChelsReviews
