Stars

The grass beneath my back,

The cold wind chilling my face,

With every breath it gets harder to keep track,

Of the heartbeats in my chest.

I look over,

My eyes scanning for that familiar sea of blue,

Across you lips a smile forms,

And just for a few,

A laugh escapes as the cold night air,

Bites softly at my thoughts,

I look up at the stars so bright,

And wonder…
