Chapter 3A Chapter by Plagued MonumentallyChapter 3: I woke up the next morning, unsure of what my decision would be. Mike is not a horrible guy, and he isn’t hard to look at either. His personality is bright and entertaining, so I would see no reason not to date him. But I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to have a boyfriend yet, since I’ve never dated anyone in my entire life. I’m not too sure why all of a sudden Mike is interested, because the most I’ve talked to him was in history class. I decided that I would go for a warm shower, so I could still think. I grabbed my towel that was hanging off the side of my computer desk chair, and walked towards the bathroom. After I removed the clothing I slept in, I slipped quickly and quietly into the shower so I wouldn’t wake Caleb. The water was piercing on my skin the first time I entered, but then it warmed up within seconds. As the water splashed all over my skin, I begin to think maybe it would not be so bad having a boyfriend. On the days I get lonely, I wouldn’t be so lonely because Mike would be there holding my hand. When I got out of the shower, I realized I spent almost 15 minutes in the shower. I toweled dry my hair and then wrapped it around my body, feeling really the rough fabric on my skin. I heard Caleb making a bunch of noise in the kitchen, so he must be up and mobile. I walked briskly to my bedroom because I was really cold. When I opened my door, I was greeted by Hash.Hash usually slept in Caleb's room, and never showed his face around much. Hash was an orange and white cat, and also Caleb’s best friend. When he came into my room you could spot him a mile away on my black bedspread and blankets. I walked up to him and scratched behind his ear, and within seconds he was purring. I picked him up and opened the door so he could go find Caleb. When he left I walked over to my closet to find something suitable to wear to school. Caleb had to go early to school, so I was stuck going to school on the bus. Once I finished getting ready, eating and doing my hair I headed out into the cool January air. That morning seemed to be more cheerful than the rest I had that week. I saw children loading onto the bus to head off to their school, then I realized I missed those days, where all I had to worry was which crayon to use for my drawings. I reached my bus stop and saw a familiar man. Then I realized that he was the guy I saw a couple days ago at this same bus station. He had the same frosty blue eyes that seemed to draw me in further and further until I was awkwardly staring at him like I did before. I didn’t know why I saw him again today, but I guess I wasn’t the only one that took a bus. I started to look away but then I heard him cough, so I glanced back at his direction. “Hello,” he said to me with innocence in his voice. I didn’t even know anything about him but something drew me in. “Hi,” I said, returning the greeting. “I might be mistaken, but I think I saw you before. You look strangely familiar..” He must have a really good memory. He didn’t seem to pay much attention to me a couple days ago, so I was wondering how he already memorized my face. “Yeah. I remember you. I saw you here on Monday.” His face was young and angelic, I didn’t really look at his features much before. His nose was slim and long, it complimented his high cheek bones that suited him very well. I couldn’t help but notice his eyes darkened to a light, gentle blue. He reminded me of my brother, Matthew; the way his eyes changed depending on his mood. He had full pink lips, the ones where you can’t take you’re eyes off of. The boy was pretty tall, about a inch or so taller than me. He had shaggy hair that hung in his eyes. His hair was shining and in perfect place, side from the fact that the weather was cold and dry. He looked up from the sidewalk, and looked at me, “Yeah. I was meaning to talk to you, but then the bus came.” He inhaled deeply before he said his next words, “What school do you go to? I just moved into the city. I’m suppose to be registered at Richardson High but I have no idea where to go.” He went to the same school I go went to which had to be a huge coincidence. This must of meant something, that I was meant to meet him on Monday, “Oh really? It just so happens that I go to Richardson High as well. Whats your name?” I asked him, trying not to sound too interested. He was hesitant at first, but then he said, “Micah Bryan.” I was surprised at the name, it wasn’t a common name and I enjoyed trying to figure out the pronunciation in my head. He looked at me and smiled, “And yours, miss?” “Katrina Evans.” I didn’t fully trust him yet, I didn’t even know if what hes saying is real, but I chose to believe him for the most part. “It’ll do.” He winked at me then asked, “would you mind showing me around the school?” I didn’t know if I should have trust him or not, mostly because I had plans to hang out with Mike at school and at lunch, but there wasn’t any harm for him to linger with us for one day until he got to know the school. But I just nodded and said, “I could do that. As long as you sit next to me on the bus so I don’t loose you.” I said with a playful grin. I didn’t know why I had even said that. I was interested in getting to know more about him. The bus took forever to come, but when it did Micah and I got a spot at the back before boat loads of people swarmed the bus. When things finally settled down, and me and Micah could finally hear each other we started a conversation. He pulled out his time table for the set of classes he had. I could see that he had almost all the same classes with me except he had pure math and I had trigonometry. “You have Mrs. Norris for history? Sweet. Shes amazing. You’ll love her.” I said, trying to make small talk so the conversation didn’t get dull. “Really? Do you have her?” He seemed to be shocked, but somehow I think he knew all along. He glanced up from his time table to look at me. “Yeah. I wouldn’t have chosen a better history teacher. Although you wouldn’t want to cross her.” I giggled, remembering the time me and Mike ticked her off on purpose. “Hm. Well then, that’s one less thing I have to worry about, a horrible teacher.” He sighed and looked out the window and I noticed that we were almost at school. “Do you know your locker number?” I asked him, hopefully he knew because if not, I would be arriving to all my classes late. “I hope so. Its locker 130.” Once he said it, I had a general idea where it was. “I think that's near Mrs. Norri's’ classroom. Lucky you.” I smiled at started to get up from the seat so we could get out of the bus before all the rest. I took his wrist and pulled him through the crowed before we got the the doors. Once we got inside the school, I was shocked to see that there wasn’t as many people lingering in the halls as I would’ve imagined. It gave us enough time to find Micah’s locker. We trailed around the school a couple times before we reached his locker. “There it is.. Locker 130, and just as I imagined, its right by Mrs. Norri's’ classroom.” I smiled and looked down at his time table, realizing that we had history first block. “Yeah. Thanks for your help Katrina. I think I’ll be able to find my way now.” Before I started to turn away he said, “Your an excellent tour guide.” He winked and turned away to get his stuff. I started to make my way to my locker when I was blocked off by Mike. I automatically felt more relaxed and comfortable. I smiled and greeted him with a warm greeting, “Hey Mike. I’m glad you’re here.”He seemed to take that as a surprised because he smiled gently and kissed me on the cheek. “Hey Kati, I missed ya’.” “I missed you too,” I looked at him and looked at his dark brown eyes, “And I’ve been doing a lot of thinking.” I saw him go from pleasant to extremely entertained and happy.“What have you been thinking about?” He said in a flirtatious tone. I was already used to Mike flirting with me. And I don’t mind it one bit. “About our kiss. And how I might like you as well.” That was probably the hardest thing I had to decide all day.He seemed generally thrilled at my final decision, “Well that’s always refreshing to hear.” He said playfully. Mike took a huge sigh and then the next words came as a shock to me, “I’d like you to be my girlfriend.” He dropped his gaze from me to our hands, and intertwined his with mine. I just smiled like a fool, “I’d like to be you’re girlfriend too.” As me and Mike walked hand in hand all the way to history class, I couldn’t help but feel happy. As we entered Micah took a hard gulp before he waved back and turned and waved back at us and turned his attention to the front. Mike looked at the two of us and asked calmly and assertively, “Who is that?” I rolled my eyes, seeing the jealousy in Mike’s eyes. “Just a friend, hes new and I volunteered to show him around the school for the next couple of days.” I nudge him with my elbow, “Nothing to be jealous of, Boyfriend.” The word “boyfriend” bounced around in my mind like thousands of bouncy balls unleashed in a toy store. He chuckled and brushed a stray hair out of my face, “I know.” He said and kissed me lightly against my lips. It was an unrecognizable sent, meaning he probably bought new cologne. When he pulled away, I kept my eyes shut for a couple extra seconds before opening them. “You smell really good today, I just thought I’d let you know that.” I smiled and saw Mrs. Norris walk into the classroom. As much as I loved gawking with Mike, kissing him and flirting with him, it was time to learn. When Mrs. Norris positions herself in front of the classroom, she looks at Micah in bewilderment. “Oh my! Class! I forgot to tell you that we have a new transfer student from Michigan. Everyone I’d like you to meet Micah James.” She smiled to the rest of her class and everyone showered him with questions and greetings. Mrs. Norris eventually got the class back on track and we learned about the Renaissance. It was a long period, but the bell eventually rang and everyone swarmed around Micah. I knew that would happen, mostly because our school loves transfer students. * * * The whole four periods of classes were dreadful, mostly because Mike wasn’t in the rest of them. By the time lunch presented itself, I found Mike and Caleb talking and laughing at the table like I was doing the day before. I smiled and started heading towards the lunch line to find Micah talking and flirting with Hayley Harris. Hayley was the head of the cheerleader squad and the most popular girl in the school. She had a sudden interest in Micah, which didn’t surprise me because Micah wasn’t hard to look at. I walked up to him, interrupting his conversation with Hayley, “Hey Micah, wanna sit with us?” As I said this, I glanced and Hayley and gave her a sharp glare. She immediately took offence and scowled at me. Micah relaxed his shoulders and nodded, “Sure.” He directed his gaze at Hayley and said, “I’ll talk to you later. It was really nice meeting you.” We walked the lunch line and picked what we wanted and paid for it. Then I showed him where Mike, Caleb and I usually sat. When I approached the table, Mike recognized him and tightened his shoulders.“Hey guys. I wanted you to meet Micah, hes the new student.” Caleb eyes brightened as I introduced him. He seemed to be interested in the new guy. “Hey.” Caleb said, shaking his hand as Micah slid in beside him. Mike didn’t say anything, but he wrapped his arm around my waste and I sunk into his warm body. He looked over at Micah and said, “Hi. I’m Mike.” He tried to act delighted that there was a new guy, but I knew him better than that. Once he dropped his dominant gaze from Micah, he looked at me and his face brightened. “How are you?” He asked me. “As of right now? Couldn’t be happier,” I extended my body so I could give Mike a whole-hearted kiss. I pulled away and looked at Caleb and Micah. “So... how was every one's morning?” Caleb shrugged and said, “It was okay; As good as any morning can get.” Micah just made swirls in his chicken noodle soup and said, “Alright I guess.” He didn’t even look up when he said that, just kept doing whatever was interesting him. “Well my day just got a whole lot better.” Mike said with a huge grin on his face. Caleb rolled his eyes, “Get a room you two.” Then started to chuckle, and Micah joined in. “Shut up Caleb,” I gave him a playful kick under the table and looked over at Mike. “I’m really happy we decided to do this. Why don’t you say, after school you meet me at my locker, and you can come over, how does that sound?” I raised my eyebrow and giggled. Mike put one hand on my thigh and said, “Sounds perfect. I wouldn’t want to spend my evening any differently.” Then turned to talk to Caleb and me and Micah were left looking at each other awkwardly. © 2011 Plagued MonumentallyReviews
