You Smell Like Mexico (Dedicated to Ed Hart)

You Smell Like Mexico (Dedicated to Ed Hart)

A Poem by Crowley
"

One of my original songs that I totally identify with for Emma's contest.

"

You Smell Like Mexico

Got off work at four thirty

Bags are already packed

Fishin’ gear if we need it

Ice chest is in the back

Hit the road and she leaned over

But before the kiss

Put her lips softly to my ear

And in a whisper she said

You smell like Mexico

Tequila, lime and a beer or so

Sometimes I feel like I sold my soul

To the beaches senoritas down in Mexico

Two days since I washed my hair

I only brought one pair of underwear

Sand form the beach is everywhere

Drank enough tequila I don’t really care

Popped a handful of Skittles

Took the girl in my arms

She said my breath it smelled fruity

I pulled her close and kissed her hard

And she said…..

You taste like Mexico

Tequila, lime and a beer or so

Sometimes I feel like I sold my soul

To the beaches senoritas down in Mexico

Shooting star and I make a wish

Tide too high didn’t catch no fish

The sun, the sand,  the ocean waves they break

And her eyes so blue that they make me ache

Her silhouette in the pale moonlight

The bottle gone much to the neighbors fright

Tequila strips her of her cotton dress

Mexico it gets in your head

She looked at me in that moonlight and she said.....

You look like Mexico

Tequila, lime and a beer or so

Sometimes I feel like I sold my soul

To the beaches senoritas down in Mexico

You smell like Mexico

Tequila, lime and a beer or so

Sometimes I feel like I sold my soul

To the beaches senoritas down in Mexico

If you ever want to hear the song let me know, I play the guitar and sing for it, so there may be vomiting and wailing that ensues soon after. Just ask Cheyenne.

I heard your rendition of this "poem" in the Poetic Voice group and I must say that it blew me away. Any poem sounds so much better on the lips of the writer and I am so glad that you gave us the chance to hear it. You have a talent for song writing and it shows in many of your poems. The chorus of this particular one sounds like Spring Break :P

Nicely done.

While I wouldn't be surprised to see a country boy forget his underwear, I say wear clean underwear or go bare. LOL! This seems like a song that the gentleman who was married to Renee Zellwegger would sing. Ever thought about submitting it? It's definitely of the quality and caliber to be seen and heard.

this is an awesome awesome song!!! honestly, you could have wriiten this for Buffett. i can see a lot of drunk happy people dancing and singing along to this, with leis around their necks and toes crusted with sand...

Shooting star and I make a wish
Tide too high didn’t catch no fish
The sun, the sand, the ocean waves they break
And her eyes so blue that they make me ache

Her silhouette in the pale moonlight
The bottle gone much to the neighbors fright
Tequila strips her of her cotton dress
Mexico it gets in your head

those are just so good...
