Left WantingA Poem by CrowleyLike gum that has lost it's flavor, color, softness I take to the street in search of a friend to tell me to spit it out Pale skin and lackluster hair make others take a wide berth I could be a good fellow, taking your dog to the park for you Sending you articles about your favorite bands or recipes But, first I must get close enough to say hello
If you all have enough friends, no room for one more Then the rest of my life may be like the longest motor vehicle line ever Even if I got a good number, in the lobby, people can't see me And when my number is finally called, I am too nervous to approach the desk So, I take another, feeling as though waiting is at least something to do Something to do, something to do, something to do
It’s hard not to be annoying when you are so desperate I haven't used the word loneliness because it conjures demons People don't want lonely people to be their friends, so I pretend to just be dull Some people like dull friends, because it’s good to be King, even with one subject I would take the role of subject as long as it meant I had a place I would be happy if you just told me that my eyes didn't match
I am not complaining, just wondering if you like my new shoes
